Beware of Plant-based or Essential Oil Allergies and Irritants in “natural” skin products

“Natural” plant-based and essential oil skin products are very popular now, but beware that some of us may experience either irritation or allergy from these.  Just because it is “natural” does not mean it is always good for you.  Poison Ivy is “natural” too.  I have listed some ingredients that may cause irritation or allergy reactions on the skin:

Ylang Ylang / Cananga Oil

Mango Tree

Anise / Star Anise

Gingko tree

Comopositae Plants:  Yarrow, Ragweed, Feverfew, Tansy, Cardoon, Sunflower, Ox-eye, Daisy, Chamomile, Black-eyed Susan, Dahlia, Dandelion, and Marigold.

Lavender

Mint

Thyme

Balsum of Peru

Cinnamon

Christmas and Easter Cacti

Eucalyptis

Jasmine

Nettles

Sesame oil

Pine Oil

Primrose oil

Citrus oils

Rosewood

Red Cedar

Sandalwood

Seawood
